Gratitude turns what we have into enough. We spend so much time focusing on what we don’t have, we tend to under-appreciate the incredible things we have right under our noses. You may not always get what you want, but in retrospect, you’ll realise you’ve always had what you needed. You’ve made it this far, after all.
Here's a poem from my poetry book 'A Journey of a Thousand Steps'.

One of the greatest lessons
I learned from many a book
I asked where to find happiness
And they told me where to look
The answer is so simple
But can take you by surprise
You will find pure happiness
Right before your eyes
But it will be hard to find it
Without the right attitude
On your quest for happiness
You must express gratitude
It’s not often that we notice
How we lead our lives with greed
We focus on the things we want
And not the things we need
But a gem is often hidden
A blessing can be in disguise
Most of the time we are more blessed
Than we even realise
I find that expressing gratitude
Helps individualise each day
By focusing on the little things
That make it memorable in its own way
You might give thanks for your health
Or a nice hot shower
A kind message from a friend
Or receiving a bunch of flowers
When you start to focus
On all the things that make you smile
You’ll start to realise you have so many things
That already make your life worthwhile
It’s not happy people who are thankful
In fact it’s the other way
It’s thankful people who are happy
Each and every day.
